Drive, Drive, Drive

A primary goal of your online marketing efforts should be geared towards acquiring qualified traffic to your website—lots and lots of it. It’s important to keep content fresh and up to date,  but it is just as important to drive traffic to the site. This is an aspect of online marketing that is often overlooked. A great looking website with fresh content doesn’t do much good if your target audience doesn’t see it.

The more traffic to your website, the more opportunities you have to grow your business. The number of visitors to your website becomes the number of opportunities your business has at giving an impression, generating qualified leads, sharing your brand, and building relationships. Building relationships and trust will ultimately sell your product or service, gain new clients or customers, and help to grow your business.

Drive traffic to your website by undertaking some or all of the following strategies.

Claim your Google Business Profile. An optimized Google business listing gets 7x more visits than an incomplete one. Because your Google listing links to your website, this is n effective way to get more traffic to your website.

Find opportunities for backlinks to your website. A backlink is a link to your website from another website. Backlinks from complementary businesses or industry influencers will not only get your business in front of a larger audience but will also drive qualified traffic to your website.

Post on social media with links back to your website. Use Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn to promote blog posts and other useful pages on your website. Turn your social media followers into website visitors and draw traffic from their networks when you post shareable content.

Include hashtags in posts. By adding hashtags to social media posts that promote your website pages and blog posts, you can extend your reach beyond your network and get discovered by users searching for your products and services.

Comment as an expert on social media posts by people in your industry. Comment on blogs and social media posts, answer questions that others are posting, and participate in conversations about your industry. The more you engage with your community, the more exposure you get ultimately driving traffic to your website.

Run giveaways, contests, and promotions. These are great ways to get people interested in your products, generate interest in your website, as well as make other business connections.

Engage in email marketing with links to your website. Through email share blogs or other useful information and link to pages on your website. Through offers, downloads, etc., collect emails to grow your email list and ultimately drive even more people to your site.

Optimize your website with long tail keywords. Targeting long-tail keywords, gives you a better chance of ranking higher (even on the first page) for queries specific to your products and services–and higher ranking means more traffic. Make sure metatags, title tags and page titles are optimized for your site too.

Use paid ads to give your website traffic an extra boost. Digital ads are designed to drive traffic to a website or a campaign-specific landing page. They work because they can be placed on particular websites, search result pages, or blogs that attract a specific audience.

You can have a website with great content, that’s easy to navigate, and with all the bells and whistles, but if you don’t drive traffic to it, no one will know what you do or how great the company is.
